This program
is the inspiration of a North Salem High School senior who in September 2006 enlisted several students to create original
pieces of art that reflect how they viewed dating abuse. The Art was then displayed at the Elizabeth
Butler Walk which helps raise money to fund new and innovative programs like
this.
The school
district hosted a forum presented by an out-side not-for-profit organization on healthy relationships, how to recognize the
warning signs and what we all can do to end relationships that are unsafe. Simultaneously, students worked with the English and Art Departments to create original poems while art students created
new pieces of art which culminated with an evening event at the Hammond Museum.
